Palestine Technical University – Khadouri Holds Knowledge-Transfer Workshop for the PHD GOV Project

Palestine Technical University – Khadouri held a workshop over Zoom dedicated to transferring the knowledge gained through PHD GOV, the doctoral-programme governance project, with the participation of the university's project coordinator Prof. Youssef Daraghmeh and a number of academic department heads.

Dr. Samer Arquawi, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, gave an introductory presentation on the project, explaining that it is funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme and delivered in partnership with three European universities: Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Belgium, RWTH Aachen University in Germany, and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden.

On the Palestinian side, the project brings together Palestine Technical University – Khadouri, the Arab American University, An-Najah National University, and Al-Quds University, alongside the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The project aims to strengthen the governance of doctoral programmes at Palestinian universities by drawing on European expertise and the international standards established in this field.

Contributions to the workshop addressed best practice in admissions mechanisms and academic supervision, the training programmes that accompany the doctoral track, and the systems used to monitor student progress and assess research achievement.

The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations, foremost among them the establishment of a university council for doctoral programmes to organise these programmes and oversee their development.
