PhDGov Steering Committee Holds Meeting at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm

The Steering Committee of the PhDGov – Reforming the Governance of PhD Programs at Palestinian Higher Education Institutions project, co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme, held its meeting from 1–3 September 2026, hosted by KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, with the participation of representatives from the Palestinian and European partner institutions.

The meeting reviewed the overall progress of the project and the updated implementation plan for the remaining period through September 2027. Partners also reviewed progress across the different work packages, key project deliverables, current challenges, and the actions required to ensure the timely completion of the planned activities.

Discussions also addressed major developments related to strengthening doctoral governance at both institutional and national levels, implementing development activities at Palestinian universities, the PALPhD Palestinian Doctoral Platform, building research collaboration networks, and preparing for upcoming academic and national activities. Quality assurance, dissemination, communication, and the sustainability of project results were also reviewed.

The meeting provided an important opportunity for Palestinian and European partners to coordinate their efforts and agree on the priorities, responsibilities, and implementation steps for the next phase, contributing to the achievement of the project objectives and the enhancement of the quality, governance, and sustainability of doctoral education in Palestinian higher education institutions.

The meeting forms part of the regular coordination activities of the PhDGov project, aimed at strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange between Palestinian and European partners and ensuring effective implementation of the project's activities and outputs.
