Palestine Technical University – Khadouri Holds Workshop to Strengthen Doctoral Governance

Palestine Technical University – Khadouri, represented by its Faculty of Business and Economics, held a specialised workshop as part of the international PHD GOV project funded under the Erasmus+ programme.

The workshop set out to transfer the expertise and knowledge acquired by the university delegation during its participation in the international training held in Brussels in early 2026.

Sessions covered European best practice in building and managing doctoral programmes in line with modern international standards, with contributions from Dr. Othman Swaftah, Dr. Muhammad Sulayma, and Dr. Ayman Nizzal.

The presentations addressed transparent admissions mechanisms, structured learning patterns that combine taught coursework with research work, and ways of developing the research and leadership competencies of doctoral students.

The sessions also examined doctoral governance through periodic evaluation of student progress, annual reporting, supervisory and monitoring committees, and research-integrity policies.

Particular attention was given to regulating the supervisor–student relationship, the roles involved in co-supervision, and the procedures for assessing and defending dissertations.

Project coordinator Prof. Youssef Daraghmeh affirmed that these efforts form a platform for strengthening integration between Palestinian and European universities through the exchange of experience and the building of modern academic governance models.
